The artichokes from El Prat that nourish our cuisine and our commitment.

Mescladís Borrell' s weekly menu is always full of flavor, sustainability and roots. Among the star dishes of the season we highlight a vegetable rice with seasonal vegetables, accompanied by grilled artichokes and a delicate basil aioli. Behind these artichokes there is much more than an ingredient: there is a history of land, collective effort and shared future.

From the land to the plate: Jaume, the farmer from El Prat

The artichokes that we serve come directly from Brots Ecosocial and are grown by Jaume, a farmer from Prat de Llobregat with a peasant soul and a vision of the future. Son and grandson of farmers, Jaume grows seasonal fruits and vegetables with wisdom and respect for the natural cycle: cauliflower, broccoli, kale, fennel, calçots, tomatoes, melons... His work not only bears fruit for the palate, but also for the community.

For more than three years, Jaume has been collaborating with Brots Ecosocial -a cooperative that promotes social and labor insertion in the agricultural field- offering agricultural training and accompanying reintegration processes. Thanks to his involvement, people like Pere and Remi (who continues to work with him today) have been able to rebuild their lives through work in the fields.

A blue tomato, a living soil

Among his recent initiatives, Jaume is committed to recovering and cultivating the Pota Blava del Prat tomato, a local variety with exceptional organoleptic qualities: bluish skin, intensely red flesh and a flavor that honors the land where it was born. Like everything he grows, it is a high quality product, cultivated with ecological awareness and social commitment.

How we choose our suppliers

At Mescladís, we select our suppliers under clear and firm criteria: we are committed to local trade, fair trade and sustainable production practices. We believe that each ingredient must tell a story that deserves to be told. And in that story, there is a place for the values we defend: social justice, solidarity economy, environmental sustainability and dignity for all people.

That is why we work with projects like Brots Ecosocial, and with people like Jaume, who understand agriculture not only as a trade, but as a political act, a way of building community and sowing the future.
