Launching of Convit/e Nº5: a celebration of dialogue and the 20 years of Mescladís.
Dialogues that open the way
On June 5, the Altell de Mescladís -located at the Teatre Lliure de Montjuïc- was filled with voices, aromas and shared questions at the launch of Convit/e Magazine Nº5, a special edition commemorating the 20th anniversary of Mescladís.
For two decades, dialogue has been at the heart of the project: talking, listening, asking... and learning from each other. That philosophy wove the common thread of an evening that combined critical thinking, art, cuisine and celebration in a unique community setting.
The welcome was in charge of Martín Habiague, founder of Mescladís, who shared the questions that are going through this anniversary edition:
What have we learned at this crossroads? What happens when roots are planted in a shared soil, with diverse hands that recognize each other? What if dialogue were more than a tool, a way of being in the world?
This was followed by a discussion with the authors of the new issue: Belén López Peiró, Irene Yúfera and Cristina Mas, who spoke in depth about their texts, journalism, human rights and the transformative potential of listening.
"Cristina's article talks about the barbarism in Gaza, the militarization of borders, the deportation industries... but above all, it proposes an attitude of revolt and organization", shared Belén. "Dialogue is a way of thinking, a practice to grow with the other", added Irene. "The journalist should not be the protagonist. Their task is to amplify the voices of those who do not have a loudspeaker," expressed Cristina.
Convit/e Educational Award: young creativity for a just future
As part of the event, Núria Domingo presented the results of the Convit/e Educational Competition for Universities, a space that recognizes the commitment and transformative vision of students in design, communication, art and illustration.
A diploma was awarded to the winner in the Photography category, Valentina Martelo (EMAV), for her work "Límits de llibertat", a piece that reflects with visual power the tension of physical and symbolic borders:
"The wire creates a tense division. The shadows hint at invisible boundaries. There is light and dark, freedom and restriction...what is unspoken but perceived."
This contest seeks to promote emerging talent and generate new opportunities for collaboration with Convit/e magazine and Mescladís cultural programs. The next edition will focus on the Japanese concept of kintsugi.
Cooking questions: the dish as a collective language
As in every Mescladís meeting, cooking was part of the thinking. Coordinated by Victoria Ghio and Ernesto González, the students of the Cuinant Oportunitats program presented an appetizer inspired by a big question:
What flavors speak of listening, diversity and encounter?
Based on this reflection, Mariam Bagayoko and Jaime Cañaveral shared a dish that synthesized technique, symbol and emotion. A recipe that is not only tasted, but also thought and lived in community.
A closing with music and roots
The evening concluded with the concert "Sonidos Nuestros" by Veka Silva (vocals, ex Gotan Project) and César Angeleri (guitar), who gave the audience an intimate, Latin American and vibrant repertoire. A perfect epilogue for a day that put the most important thing at the center: the possibility of building the future through art, words and collective action.
