Presentation of Convit/e Magazine No. 8 – KINTSUGI

Kintsugi is a centuries-old Japanese technique for repairing broken pottery. The pieces are joined together with lacquer, and the cracks are filled with gold dust. This way, the fracture isn’t hidden—it becomes part of the object’s history, and is often its most beautiful feature.

On Saturday, October 24, we’ll be presenting *Kintsugi*, issue No. 8 of *Convit/e*, at Mescladís Lliure Montjuïc. An afternoon of conversation, food, and music, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

How many times has your story been broken and put back together?

This issue opens with that question. And it isn't looking for a straightforward answer: it's looking for the cracks.

What is broken does not bring a story to a close, but rather opens another one: the question of what we do with what remains.

This issue of Convit/e is the result of a collaboration with the Museu Tàpies and its Extramurs project, this time featuring the artist Dora García. Her drawings run through the pages like a slogan held high: love will be collective.

Because rising again, today, is also a political act. When those in power decide which bodies matter and which memories have the right to exist, what is at stake is not the purity of the narrative. It is the possibility of piecing back together, together, what they wanted to remain dead.

Behind this issue are many voices: Martín Habiague, Dora García, Brigitte Vasallo, Lucía Egaña, Nuria Alabao, Júlia Sánchez Cid, Mikel Ayestaran, Marina Garcés, Waira Florez Vescance, Emmanuel González, Diego Marchante, and Frau Diamanda. Activism, journalism, gastronomy, and art, all gathered around the same table.

The program

1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. · Presentation of Kintsugi. Martín Habiague, director of Mescladís, and artist Dora García will open the event by presenting the magazine. Afterward, Frau Diamanda and Diego Marchante will discuss the magazine’s texts, images, and ideas that have most resonated with them.

2:00 p.m. · Sabor i Art. Cooking is also a language. The students at Mescladís take up the question posed by the magazine through words and images and reinterpret it on a plate: an appetizer created for the occasion, to be enjoyed as we share a meal and conversation.

2:10 p.m. · Cuinant Drets. Mexican cuisine presented by Cuinant Drets, one of Mescladís' educational programs.

2:15 p.m. · Convit/e Contest Awards 2025–2026. This year, we invited each participant to share, in their own words and through their own images, what it means to them to remember, reconstruct, and reconnect. We presented the awards.

2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. · DJ set by Frau Diamanda. A transvestite audiovisual artist, drag performer, DJ, translator, and writer of Peruvian origin based in Barcelona. Since 1999, she has been exploring transgender art and performance through the lens of sexual dissidence and a decolonial perspective. She is the author of *Escenas Catalanas: errancias antropológico-sexuales* (2020).

4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. · Sabina Estrella & friends. A Mexican singer who has carved out a prominent place for herself in Barcelona’s cultural scene. She is especially known for performing traditional Mexican folk music, spanning genres ranging from son jarocho and traditional boleros to cumbia.

We look forward to seeing you
