La Vinyeta: Tradition, Sustainability and Avant-Garde in Mescladís Gràcia

The world of wine is not only about flavors and aromas, but also about stories, territories and commitment to the land. As part of Mescladís Gràcia: Refuge of Wines, a pairing experience that runs from April to June and brings together various wineries, La Vinyeta will be the first to offer a special tasting, bringing with it its identity deeply rooted in Empordà.

La Vinyeta: a project with soul and purpose

Located in Mollet de Peralada, between the Albera mountain range and the Empordà plain, La Vinyeta is a winery born from the enthusiasm and passion of Josep and Marta, agronomists and oenologists. Its history began in 2002, when they acquired their first vineyards and, since 2006, they have been producing wines that reflect the essence of their territory: strength, freshness and Mediterranean elegance.

However, La Vinyeta is much more than a winery. Its philosophy is based on sustainability, circular economy and environmental regeneration. On its estate, winemaking coexists with the production of oil from century-old olive trees, sustainable livestock, beekeeping and cheese-making. Everything is part of an ecosystem where nothing is wasted: sheep fertilize the soil, grape waste feeds the chickens and water is reused in each process. A production model that has recently been recognized with the Premi d'Innovació Tecnològica Agroalimentària de Catalunya 2024 (PITA).

"We are dedicated to organic production; we take care of our vineyards without using chemicals and we do regenerative work. At La Vinyeta we not only have vineyards and wines. We also cultivate olive trees, some of which are more than 500 years old, and we produce oil. We work in a circular way, so that everything is used. We use the leftovers from pressing the grapes to feed the chickens. The sheep graze the vines and thus control the grass and fertilize the fields. In our cheese factory we make the cheeses. The bees bring us biodiversity and provide us with honey." Josep tells us.

More than wine: a social and ecological commitment

La Vinyeta's positive impact is not limited to the field. The winery is a pioneer in ecological practices and social inclusion, collaborating with the Tresc Foundation in the insertion of people with mental disorders. They also work with reusable labels, use solar energy and promote biodiversity with the construction of a nesting tower for the lesser kestrel, as well as biological control using bats.

They are also founders of the La Diligencia cooperative, which unites small local producers to improve logistical efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

A not-to-be-missed meeting for wine and sustainability lovers

Mescladís Gràcia opens its doors for this event, where wine becomes a bridge between tradition and innovation. The La Vinyeta tasting will be an opportunity to taste wines of great character, learn about its sustainable production model and understand how wine can be an agent of social and environmental change.

Because every glass tells a story and at La Vinyeta, that story is a tribute to the land, the people and the future.
