Socio-laboral integration as a transforming axis: Mescladís participates in the third European meeting of the SALAM project

Barcelona, June 2025
On June 16 and 17, Barcelona hosted the third European meeting of the SALAM (Sustainable Accessibility to the Labor Market) project, an international initiative focused on improving public policies to promote the sustainable inclusion of migrants in the labor market.

The meeting was promoted by the Servei Públic d'Ocupació de Catalunya (SOC), which acted as host with the participation of its Secretary of Labor, Paco Ramos, in the institutional opening. The meeting brought together representatives of public administrations, social entities, universities and European networks that work actively in the construction of inclusive and cohesive models.

During the conference, strategies, legislative frameworks and field experiences were shared to demonstrate how public-community collaboration can generate real solutions to the challenges of labor market insertion of migrants, especially those in an irregular administrative situation.

One of the central points was the analysis of the ACOL program, a key line of the SOC's Work and Training program. On the second day, Marta Cañellas, head of the Employment Opportunities Programs Service, highlighted how this instrument has facilitated access to employment for non-EU citizens in highly vulnerable contexts, through a comprehensive approach that combines recruitment, support and training.

In this context, Fundació Mescladís was invited as a good practice of reference to present its experience in the management of the ACOL program and its model of socio-labor insertion through projects such as Empleadís and Cuinant Oportunitats. During the round table, testimonies of participants were shared and the role of social entities as agents of transformation was reflected upon, together with colleagues from the Consell Comarcal del Bages.

"It's not just about getting a job, but about generating real paths towards rootedness, recognition of rights and social justice," said the Mescladís team.

The SALAM project is part of the Interreg Europe program and will run until 2028. Through a four-phase process (exchange of knowledge, identification of good practices, redesign of public policies and monitoring of improvements), it seeks to create a replicable model of labor integration based on the recognition of competencies and accompaniment adapted to the diversity of migratory trajectories.

In addition to Catalonia, the project includes territories such as Tuscany (Italy), Centre-Loire Valley (France), Västra Götaland (Sweden) and Baden-Württemberg (Germany), as well as universities in Florence and Timişoara, and local governments in Romania, Ukraine and Sweden.

From Mescladís we are pleased to be part of this European network that works to open real opportunities for migrants. We firmly believe that decent labor integration is an essential condition for social cohesion and collective welfare.
