Fem Barri: culture, gastronomy and community

A community initiative with gastronomy, workshops and concerts promoted by the Mescladís Cultural Production Company.

Fem Barri is much more than an event: it is a community initiative that seeks to build and strengthen neighborhood identity through art, culture and gastronomy.
A space designed to bring the community together, foster dialogue and generate meaningful encounters that inspire collaboration and local creativity.

Every month, the terrace of Mescladís Lliure Montjuïc is transformed into an open and participatory space where neighbors, families, artists and neighborhood groups share experiences, flavors and artistic expressions.

One Saturday a month, Fem Barri turns the terrace of Mescladís Lliure Montjuïc into a community space with gastronomy, art and social activities that promote inclusion, intercultural dialogue and neighborhood participation based on diversity, equality and sustainability.

The objective of Fem Barri is to create a space for social cohesion and a meeting point to strengthen the local community, promoting inclusion, diversity and sustainability through gastronomy, entertainment and art. It also seeks to bring the neighborhood community closer to the emblematic Teatre Lliure building , promoting awareness of values such as gender equality, diversity, sustainability and migration.

Upcoming editions

This year there are two more editions of Fem Barri: November 8 and December 13.

Each meeting proposes an open and participative day with mobile kitchen in charge of:

Més que Curesan association of women in the Poble-sec neighborhood, born in 2018, which offers care and welfare services to improve people's quality of life. They also perform tasks of child care and cleaning of homes, premises and offices, from a community and feminist point of view.

Or the students of the Cuinant Oportunitats program of Fundació Mescladís, who put into practice their knowledge of sustainable and inclusive cuisine, promoting employability and social transformation through gastronomy.

Children's workshops and family activities

Each edition of Fem Barri includes children's workshops open to the public for the whole family, linked to the themes of Mescladís and its cultural production company.

These activities seek to encourage dialogue, broaden horizons of thought, imagine other possible worlds and dissolve the boundaries of the neighborhood and the city of Barcelona, generating a critical, creative and participatory society.
