The catering for Mescladís per Ciutat at Revolta:

From April 20 to 22, 2026, the International Cities of Refuge Network gathered in Barcelona to hold its General Assembly, coinciding with the organization’s 20th anniversary since its founding in Stavanger in 2006.

In this context, Mescladís Social Catering, in collaboration with Ada Parellada, supported the spaces for dialogue, connection, and reflection through a culinary offering based on local, seasonal ingredients with a distinct identity. Beyond mere sustenance, the food became a tool for discussing memory, identity, and hospitality, fostering the creation of bonds among people from diverse backgrounds.

A culinary experience was designed to introduce participants to Catalan culture through the flavors, ingredients, and stories behind each dish.

Mescladís Catering — Concept and Proposal

Environmental sustainability — Zero-waste management — Organic and seasonal products — Locally sourced water — Ozone cleaning

Social sustainability — Fair trade and small local businesses — Training and inclusion — Decent work — Social impact and outreach projects

Food and Drink — Coffee Breaks · Breakfast · Afternoon Snacks · Light Bites · Hot Meals — Artisanal Preparation · Organic Farming · Fair Trade · Locally Sourced

Values and Impact — Social Justice · Sustainability · Right to Migrate · People First

The revenue generated funds the “Cuinant Oportunitats” training and social inclusion program, fostering a sense of community and reducing social inequality.

Committed to a socially conscious culinary approach rooted in the values of social justice, sustainability, and the right to migrate, Mescladís once again demonstrated how the kitchen can become a space for connection and mutual recognition.

As Parellada said, we may not be able to bring back what has been lost, but we can “light the stove and welcome guests” with dishes that tell our story and ground us in our homeland.

This event was made possible through the joint organization of PEN Català and the International Cities of Refuge Network, with support from the Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Acció Intercultural, Barcelona Cultura, the Government of Catalonia, the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes, and the Institut Ramon Llull.
