Elisava and Mescladís Project - Letterpress 2025

In Mescladís we shared two weeks of experimentation with Elisava and a group of graphic design students, exploring letterpress as a creative and reflective tool.
During this process, the workshop became a space for dialogue between design and our mission: to make diversity visible, defend human rights and promote a social and sustainable economy.

From this collaboration a series of graphic tablecloths were born, designed to accompany our tables and conversations.
Each proposal translates into shapes, textures and words the values that move us - hospitality, mixture, memory, justice -and invites us to eat, think and create together from the difference.

Agreement with Elisava

Elisava is a university school of design and engineering in Barcelona, attached to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Founded in 1961, it is one of the most recognized institutions in the field of design and innovation, with an interdisciplinary approach that unites creativity, technology and social commitment.
Its academic community promotes projects that promote sustainability, inclusion and social transformation through design.

The school offers two main degrees: Design and Innovation and Industrial Design Engineering, both with a strong practical orientation based on real projects. The subjects combine theory and experimentation -from project fundamentals, design history, anthropology and visual communication, to technical subjects such as materials, manufacturing processes or product development-.
Elisava promotes active learning, with workshops, laboratories and collaborations with social and business entities, where students develop skills in responsible design, sustainability and social impact.

Relationship between Mescladís and Elisava

Mescladís and Elisava have maintained a constant collaboration for a couple of years now, based on shared values such as inclusion, experimentation and learning by doing.
This relationship has given rise to different initiatives that connect responsible design with social action and solidarity economy.

Among the most outstanding experiences are the projects of experimentation with letterpress, initiated this year with a group of about 80 students divided into two working groups, which participated in an intensive week each.
Also noteworthy is the collaboration in the design of the cover of the magazine Convit/e, where students contribute a creative and committed look with the values of Mescladís. This is already the second year in which we promote this initiative, inviting Elisava students to be part of a creative process that combines design, social reflection and visual narrative.

Other forms of collaboration

In addition to these specific experiences, the relationship with Elisava includes several lines of collaboration:

  • Curricular and extracurricular internships, which allow students to integrate into Mescladís projects and contribute with their design and engineering training.
  • Links with Final Degree Projects (TFG), in which research and design proposals with real social impact are developed.
  • Experimental projects and joint workshops, where new ways of communicating, designing and creating from inclusion and sustainability are explored.

This ongoing collaboration reflects a shared desire to build bridges between education, design and social action, generating mutual learning and results with a sense of community.

🌱 At Mescladís we believe that design can also be a tool for social transformation.
And with Elisava, we continue to find new ways to make it possible.
