The Cuinant Oportunitats program is launching a new module of “My Recipe.”

La Meva Recepta is a space where students take the lead in creating culinary dishes that connect with their roots and life experiences.
Last Tuesday, March 24, the afternoon group of the “Cuinant Oportunitats ” program at Mescladís Montjuïc began the module “My Recipe, ” a training initiative led by Ernesto, the course instructor. This activity is part of an experiential learning methodology that combines culinary skills with processes of personal expression and the collective construction of knowledge.
Intercultural Cooking Workshop: Learning, Identity, and Social Transformation
The training module invites each participant to take on the role of head chef, leading the preparation of a meaningful dish linked to their cultural roots, memories, and life experiences. This methodology transforms cooking into an educational language, facilitating the transmission of knowledge, identities, and memories through culinary practice.
The selected recipes are typically traditional dishes or dishes from childhood, often associated with loved ones. This approach reinforces the emotional, cultural, and symbolic value of cooking as a tool for learning and social cohesion.
The kitchen as an educational tool and a space for cultural expression

Before the cooking session begins, each student shares the story behind their recipe with the group: its origins, its significance, and the memories it evokes. This activity fostersactive listening, respect for cultural diversity, and group cohesion—key elements ininclusive and intercultural education.
The kitchen thus becomes a space for dialogue where migration experiences, traditional knowledge, and new ways of living together intersect.
Culinary innovation and hands-on cooking training

In the first session, the instructor will take on the role of head chef to demonstrate how the module works. Ernesto proposed a reinterpretation of Bolognese lasagna, substituting the pasta sheets with ripe plantains.
This proposal allowed participants to explore various culinary techniques, while highlighting creativity, culinary innovation, and cultural fusion as tools for learning.
Collective experience: community, culture, and learning

The session unfolded by combining the acquisition of culinary knowledge withpersonal and collective exploration. At the end, the group shared a tasting of the dish in a relaxed atmosphere, creating a space for:
- Coexistence
- Cultural exchange
- Collaborative learning
These types of activities reinforce a sense of community and experiential learning.
The kitchen as a transformative educational space
This experience reaffirms the kitchen as a transformative educational space, where learning goes beyond technique. It becomes an opportunity to:
Celebrating cultural diversity
