Workshop: A language of our own- with @chenpaloma
How do diasporic and working class women writers (re)construct, (re)compose and resist ourselves in spaces and circles filled with racism, elitism and Eurocentric academicism? Language can be oppression but also mystery and change. What is not named does not exist, and women writers invent the names of that which is not named to form "a language of our own" as Minke Wang says. In this workshop, we will elaborate creative texts in the form of short dictionaries or glossaries that, instead of killing words, enlarge them: a concise writing together with objects, drawings, letters, personal memories, family photos, magazine clippings, tickets and everything that expands our vocabulary because it is a sign of the expansion of our world.

What is the Shelter of Letters of Mescladís?

It is a space for reading and writing workshops, book presentations, collective readings and literary performances. Among books, voices and conversations, we will read, write and share our stories. An invitation to think about ourselves, open new looks and build community around literature. 📚✍️🗣️

Are there any requirements to participate?
For workshops with prior registration, you will find the forms on our website and on social networks. Some workshops have a cost defined by the workshop leaders; in the information of each workshop it is clearly indicated whether it is free or paid. All paid workshops have a scholarship place provided by Mescladís for those who cannot afford the investment. 🤝
